Quiet Night & Summer Rain
Life's on hold without you here,
No future flame to calm the fear.
A few short lines would be enough
To smooth the path that's feeling rough.
I wandered through the web's domain,
And called your name through endless pain:
"My friend, don't fade, don't forget my name..."
But nothing answers, just the same.
The lonely day, a silent test,
The quiet evening brings no rest.
You'll write your lines, I know you will...
But my own page I need to fill.
They'll come at night, when all is still,
Against the silence, my own will.
The birds are quiet, the wind draws near,
To bring the rain we long to hear.
A summer shower starts to fall,
The gentlest rhythm of them all.
The wind and roof, a percussed art,
And my own, steady, beating heart.
We wrote it down, that rainy song,
For you, for me, to sing along.
And though the morning sun appears,
It's washed away the silent years.
What's left is just this simple part:
The steady rhythm of my heart.
We tried our best, the night and me,
To set this aching memory free...
For you, my dear, for you.
