Using Pre-Chorus and Bridge Metatags for AI Song Generation
Pre-Chorus and Bridge
Pre-chorus and bridge sections are used for lyrics that fall outside the main pattern of the song. They build anticipation during transitions and often don't rhyme or fit the meter of the main sections.
[Pre-Chorus] - This tag is used to label a pre-chorus section, which serves as a transition leading into the chorus.
[Bridge] - This tag indicates a bridge section, which can appear anywhere in the song and provides a contrast to the verse and chorus.
AI-generated lyrics sometimes include a pre-chorus without labeling it, which can cause awkward lines that don't fit the song's meter. Adding a metatag label ensures that the AI understands this break in the pattern as intentional, allowing it to be sung as a distinct section.
Examples of AI-Generated Lyrics
Original lyrics might look like this:
[Verse] Cruisin’ down the streets with nowhere to go Miles of cars, it’s a never-ending show Round and round, it’s like a crazy maze Every parking space, a mirage, a haze Anxiety’s building, it’s drivin’ me insane [Chorus] Driving in circles, looking for a spot I’m runnin’ out of gas, I’m losing all my shots
After editing to include a [Pre-Chorus]:
[Verse] Cruisin’ down the streets with nowhere to go Miles of cars, it’s a never-ending show Round and round, it’s like a crazy maze Every parking space, a mirage, a haze [Pre-Chorus] Anxiety’s building, it’s drivin’ me insane [Chorus] Driving in circles, looking for a spot I’m runnin’ out of gas, I’m losing all my shots
Additional Tags
Pre-choruses often lead into the chorus, while bridges can be placed at various points in the song. You can also use descriptive tags to set the tone of the lyrics:
[Shout] - Indicates a section where the lyrics should be delivered with a shouting style.
[Whimsical] - Suggests that the lyrics should have a whimsical or playful tone.
[Melancholy] - Used to convey a melancholic or reflective mood.
Feel free to use a range of descriptive terms to fit the mood or style you wish to convey in your song.
Lyrics are Stronger than Metatags
While metatags help guide the AI, the structure and pattern of the lyrics, as well as the style prompt, are stronger influences on the final output.
Even when metatags work, they might not always produce the desired effect. It can sometimes feel unpredictable.
For example, a fast rap song may require more words per line than a slow ballad. Ensure that verses and choruses have distinct syllable counts and phrasing to avoid blending together.
It's also possible to have a song composed only of verses if the lyrics follow a consistent pattern and rhyme scheme.
