Remembering Bunin

Looking for yesterday!
Why look for it?
What will yesterday give me?
What can it tell?
And the river of time
Flows year after year.
You can't turn it back,
You can't run ahead.

Yesterday is gone.
What did it leave us?
Our dialogue, like a shadow,
Clear only to us.
It's dawning outside,
We greet a new day.
But my thoughts are elsewhere,
And I'm so lazy to get up.

Favorite poems, My old notebook.
Beautiful poems,
And letters instead of notes.
I remember from school,
That two were side by side.
Also, that his gaze
Had not touched her lips.

For half a century those poems
Sound like music.
With time, they more strongly
Sadden and embitter.
